Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from traditional psychiatry?
We intentionally work with a smaller number of patients so we can offer longer visits, continuity with the same clinician, and more thoughtful follow-up. This allows for careful diagnosis and treatment rather than rushed, symptom-only care.
What does “personalized care” mean?
Personalized care means treatment decisions are based on your history, symptom patterns, prior treatment response, and current life circumstances—not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Is this concierge psychiatry?
We provide care through a concierge-style model, meaning we limit our patient panel to allow for time, access, and continuity. The focus is medical and clinical—not luxury or perks.
How do I choose the right care level?
Care level is chosen collaboratively based on clinical needs. Patients may move between levels over time as symptoms stabilize or support needs change.
Do I get unlimited appointments or messaging?
We offer unlimited visits and greater access in our Elite membership only. In our Essential and Enhanced memberships, follow-up frequency and between-visit communication are structured around clinical need to support safety, effectiveness, and appropriate boundaries.
What if I need more support than my current level provides?
If symptoms change or additional monitoring is needed, we can adjust your care level or recommend a higher level of care when appropriate.
Is this practice insurance-based?
Mynd Works Psychiatric Services is an out-of-network practice. We do not contract directly with insurance but can provide documentation for patients who wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement.
Do you prescribe controlled medications?
When clinically appropriate and in accordance with federal and state regulations, controlled medications may be prescribed. All prescribing decisions are based on medical necessity, safety, and ongoing monitoring.
What if I’m in crisis?
Our services are outpatient and non-emergency. If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency or feel unsafe, we recommend contacting emergency services, going to the nearest emergency department, or calling the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Where are you located? Do you offer telepsychiatry?
We are based in Austin, Texas and offer both in-person and telehealth services for patients located in Texas, in accordance with state regulations.
How often will I be seen?
Visit frequency varies by care level and clinical need. This may range from periodic follow-ups to more frequent visits during medication changes or symptom flares.
Can I leave the practice or change care levels at any time?
Yes. Care levels are not permanent and can be adjusted. Patients may discontinue care with appropriate notice.
